Overview
Mexico City has been on my travel radar for the last 5-8 years. I’ve heard great things about it’s world class cuisine, impressive architecture, historic museums, and overall bohemian vibe. With flights from LA taking only 4 hours and airfares advertised out of LAX from $250 to $500 roundtrip, it’s notw at the top of my travel wishlist.
After doing some research and talking to friends, I’ve decided La Condesa is the neighborhood I’d like to stay in when I eventually visit. La Condesa is located south of Zona Rosa and 3 miles west of the Zócalo, the city’s main square. It is immediately west of Colonia Roma (where you can find the Frida Khalo museum) and north of Escandón and Colonia Naples. It’s made up of three areas; Colonia Condesa, Colonia Hipódromo and Colonia Hipódromo Condesa.
La Condesa is considered to be one of the coolest neighborhoods in Mexico City with a variety of boutique hotels, cafes, international restaurants, and nightclubs. You’ll find fewer of the big chain hotels and more unique locally owned accommodations.
When I eventually get the chance to visit Mexico City here are some of the hotels and AirBnBs I’ll be considering in La Condesa.
